Iranian largest northern quay (jetty) to be built in the Bandar Anzali free zone

Managing Director of Bandar Anzali free trade industrial Zone  Dr. kamal Firouzabadi said Boosting relation with CIS countries like Azerbaijan and Astrakhan was regarded as the main objective behind construction and development of Anzali free zone and its quay(jetty).

He noted the capacity of Bandar Anzali for loading and discharging of cargo is limited. According to report released by Bandar Anzali custom house, this port had loaded and discharged 6 million tons cargo last year and maximum capacity of this port is between 6 to 7 million tons and with development of this port within five next years its capacity will increase up to 10 million .

With regard to expanding relation with CIS countries and launching operation of Golshan's custom house this capacity will not be enough.

Construction of a quay (jetty) in Bandar Anzali free zone is under study with the aim of rehabilitation and overhauling the previous old one.

He said estimated cost for construction of this port at 300 or 400million dollars.

Based on the coordination made in this regard related bylaws have been approved at the Cabinet of Ministers and it is hoped that construction operation's topography of this port to be finalized before the termination of this years.

He further noted not effective steps have thus far been taken for procurement of financial resources for this project whether using domestic or foreign finance scheme.

Expanding Zibakenar – Hassanroud road to four lanes is another step that has been taking in this regard.
